London/New York – BritishAmerican Business welcomes today’s announcement that the United Kingdom (UK) and the European Union (EU) have reached an agreement on their future trading relationship.

BritishAmerican Business CEO, Duncan Edwards said: “Since the referendum result in 2016, the challenge of balancing the benefits of free and open trade against the political issues on both sides means that this agreement should be welcomed by the Transatlantic business community.

“Although this agreement falls short of the full, unfettered access that we would have preferred, it is a significantly better outcome than ‘no deal’. Rather than this being the end of the process, we would like to see both the UK and EU continue negotiations to further liberalize trade between the two markets. There is much still that can be done, to the benefit of both sides, especially in services.

“We congratulate the UK Government and the European Commission, and in particular the negotiating teams, for having worked constructively towards achieving this agreement, and ������Ƶ and our members will continue to engage with both sides constructively to support ongoing discussions.”
